Deputy Zoning & Code Enforcement Officer
The Deputy Zoning & Code Enforcement Officer reports directly to the Borough Manager. This individual will be able to interact well with all Department Heads, Staff, Elected Officials, Residents, the Business Community, Boards, Commissions and Committees. The deputy zoning & Code Enforcement officer is responsible for assisting the Borough Manager in researching, planning, and developing goals to enhance Borough zoning and planning Operations; attending Borough Council meetings, when needed, and performing specials projects assigned by the Borough Manager.
DUTIES
-Act as deputy zoning and code enforcement officer. Which includes notifying businesses and residents of violations.
-Grant or deny permits as needed per borough ordinance and the Uniform Construction Code.
-Be one of the main points of contact for the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board.
-Investigate, respond, follow-up and prepare reports on service requests or complaints filed by constituents in person, by telephone or via email.
-Attend the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board meetings.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Borough Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3-5 years of zoning/code enforcement experience in a responsible position in local, state, or federal government is preferred.
Any combination of education, experience, and training.
REQUIREMENTS
-Must have a valid drivers license.
-Competitive candidates must demonstrate a high level of successful performance in areas that include planning, zoning, and development, building community consensus and working with a well-informed, actively engaged population.
-Ability to exercise good judgement and tact when dealing with the public; ability to learn new concepts and ideas concerning local government; proficient computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office.
-Thorough ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Borough Manager. Ability to effectively organize, complete and evaluate technical assignments. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
-Must be very fluent in computers including but not limited to Microsoft Office, GovPILOT, Adobe, etc....
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a professional office environment and requires the use of standard office equipment. Travel within the Borough is expected, and a borough owned vehicle will be provided for use during work hours.
POSITION TYPE
-This is a part-time, non-management position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday for 20-25 hours per week with evening meetings.
-Hourly Rate based on experience
-This is a non-union position.
